REACH OUT, STAY IN TOUCH
The whole concept behind this work is to build community, to create more space for who you are and what you have to say. Feel free to reach out with questions, concerns, self-promotion, business inquiries, or anything that just comes to mind.
Below is a collection of members of my community, my city’s community, and beyond. I try to highlight voices I know and trust, as well as ones doing unique, intense work that need a little highlighting. My goal is to curate a community board for all, to lift up marginalized voices, and create a safe space for each other.
Secret room press
A collection of some of the sweetest artists out there, with open minds and hearts. Follow along as they continue to lift up others, provide printing services for the underrepresented, and you can even stop by and pick up free Black Lives Matter posters from them. Check these cuties out!
barista behind the bar
Truth be told, I could go on for hours about how much I admire, love, and respect Camila and the work she does. Her passion for creating community and safe working environments for everyone led her to create Barista Behind the Bar - a place where folks in the specialty coffee industry can discuss barriers, challenges, ways to become more inclusive, and where Camila can push the industry forward towards a more sustainable, diverse, and equitable future. Give her some love!
the independent publishing resource center
This wonderful organization has gotten me through some very tough times. They continue to inspire, expand, and reach out in ways that are collaborative and inclusive. A gem of a resource for anyone, whether you’re an expert printer, a beginner, or just don’t want to go to Kinko’s - the IPRC is here for you!
the inclusive screenwriter
I was lucky enough to be introduced to Ashwini through our shared screenwriting teacher, Randall Jahnson at the Northwest Film Center. Since getting to know her, I am always amazed at how she is constantly pushing for a sense of belonging for everyone within story telling. Follow the link below to get more information on her and her new book How to Write Inclusively.
snack bloc pdx
The whole concept of community starts at a personal level, and then seeps out into the local and city level. And SNACK BLOC is here to support the community of Portland (and beyond, they have tools and resources for you to set one up in your hometown). Since 2017 they have been supporting and organizing rallies, protests, community events, vigils, and much, much more. In 2020, the work they do is undeniably vital and incredibly important to our future as a city. The link below helps you follow and support their good work!
